The Benefits of KEO in Detail

Five reasons why market leaders in heat pumps, wall boxes, solar and energy management rely on KEO.

30 days to proof of concept

While in-house development often takes months and ties up an entire development team, we deliver a working PoC on your platform within 30 days. You can test and validate the integration in your own environment before making a long-term commitment.

gridX confirms: “A fast and compliant market launch.”

Over 2.5 million connected devices worldwide

Our software is already used in products from market leaders in the heat pump-, wallbox-, solar-, energy management-, and energy storage sectors. This means you’re relying on a solution that has been proven millions of times in the field—no trial-and-error phase, but mass-market quality from day one.

Over 20 years of device and software development

KEO is a spin-off of the Kellendonk Group, which has been developing hardware and software for the mass market since the 1990s—in the fields of heating, home appliances, and industrial automation. This experience in developing durable, robust solutions is reflected in every KEO product.

TQ confirms: “Significantly faster in implementing use cases.”

Active Participation in EEBUS e.V.

We don’t wait for the next standard—we help shape it. As an active member of EEBUS e.V., we learn about upcoming changes early on and proactively adapt our software stacks. This ensures your product remains compliant, even in the face of new legal or regulatory requirements or updates to the nearly 40 EEBUS use cases currently in place.

CRA-compliant and BSI-certified

Cybersecurity is not an optional feature, but rather the foundation of our architecture. We develop our solutions in accordance with the requirements of the EU Cyber Resilience Act and BSI security certification. With Cybersecurity as a Service, we take responsibility for the security of your devices throughout their entire product lifecycle.

PPC confirms: “High level of implementation expertise and rapid delivery of updates.”

What EEBUS’s in-house development actually means

EEBUS is the European standard for communication between energy-related devices. It is shaped and continuously refined by more than 70 companies within EEBUS e.V. What at first glance appears to be a clearly defined standard turns out, in practice, to be a highly complex endeavor.

Loss of time

The EEBUS specification is extensive and changes regularly. An in-house team typically needs 6–12 months to develop a functional stack—time in which your competitors will already be on the market.

Compatibility Issues

EEBUS interoperability requires testing with dozens of device types from a wide variety of manufacturers. Without comprehensive testing, problems won’t surface until they reach the customer—the most expensive scenario of all.

Maintenance

New use cases, changed specifications, regulatory updates: If you develop software in-house, you need to maintain a dedicated team that keeps track of the standard and keeps the software up to date.

Regulatory Framework

The EU Cyber Resilience Act requires verifiable cybersecurity starting in 2027. BSI certification is mandated by law for certain product categories. In-house developments must meet these requirements on their own.

KEO has already gone down this path—with over 20 years of experience and more than 2.5 million devices in the field. You don’t have to.
