Generate and store your own electricity – the basis for the energy transition!
More than 3 million solar systems and over 500,000 home storage systems have already been installed in the country, and more than 11 million detached and semi-detached houses could still benefit. To optimize the energy flows between the solar system, inverter and storage system, a digital connection is established with KEO UseCases based on the EEBUS standard. This also enables the use of dynamic tariffs or self-consumption optimization.
The energy management system as a central control system
The energy flows that occur between the solar system, the inverter and the storage system are intelligently controlled via an energy management system. Providers of such devices are best advised to use a digital connection for this purpose, which KEO provides individually as use cases for the respective devices on the EEBUS standard.
Implementation of use cases in EEBUS
Power Limitation (§14a EnWG)
- Limitation of Power Consumption (LPC). A short-term power limitation is received from the GCP or EMS. Part of LPC is also a failsafe functionality in the event of a connection failure.
- Limitation of Power Production (LPP). A short-term power limitation is received from the GCP or EMS. LPP limits the production of power in the same way as LPC.
Self-consumption optimization
- Monitoring of Inverter (MOI). Inverter information and status are provided to the energy manager for monitoring purposes.
- Monitoring of Battery (MOB). Battery information and typical measured values are provided to the energy manager for monitoring purposes.
- Monitoring of PV String (MPS). Information and measured values from the PV strings are provided to the energy manager for monitoring purposes.
- Control of Battery (COB). Control commands are received from the EMS to integrate the inverter system into the energy management system. There are two modes; (1) control at the Grid Connection Point and (2) setpoint for feeding into the domestic grid.
The technical product solution used here: the KEO UseCase API.
Networking for the Internet of Things
By integrating the solar components inverter and storage system into the HEMS, control and automation as well as networking with heat pumps, wallboxes and other IoT applications is possible.
§Section 9 of the German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) regulates the requirements for generation plants, particularly with regard to monitoring and controlling the feed-in to the electricity grid.
