After two years of pilot qualification work at Living Lab Cologne, EEBUS e.V. is launching the official EEBUS Certification Scheme. For our customers, this is the point at which EEBUS shifts from lab-validated to market-certified.

From Pilot to Official Certification

The Pilot Qualification that has guided the ecosystem over the past two years is being replaced by a formal certification issued by EEBUS e.V. From the launch onward, only officially certified products will be authorised to carry the EEBUS Certification Logo.

The initial scope focuses on where EEBUS carries the most weight in the German market: the grid-relevant use cases (LPC, LPP, MPC, MGCP) that underpin §14a EnWG and §9 EEG compliance, together with the SHIP Pairing Service and the core protocol stack.

When and Where

  • May 2026: test certification trial
  • After the trial: rollout of the full certification process to all interested parties
  • Where: testing runs exclusively at Living Lab Cologne, using the initiative-owned EEBUS Tester
  • Who issues: EEBUS e.V. is the sole issuer of the certificate

What This Means for KEO Customers

If you are building on KEO Connectivity’s stack, the certification launch aligns well with where the product is already.

  • SHIP Comfort Pairing is already part of our stack. The SHIP Pairing Service is one of the pillars of the new certification, and it is already implemented and in use by KEO customers today. We covered how it works in an earlier Quarterly Ping, so the feature that certification will test is the same one you are already shipping with.
  • The grid-relevant use cases are already covered. LPC, LPP, MPC and MGCP are part of KEO’s use case portfolio. There is no extra scope to pick up to reach certification readiness.
  • §14a EnWG and §9 EEG alignment. Customers targeting regulated deployments in the German market can treat the May 2026 trial as a natural checkpoint for their product roadmap.
  • Logo rights. Once certified, your product can carry the EEBUS Certification Logo. This is the signal that the market, DSOs and regulators will increasingly look for.
